Project Brief

The estate was originally built between 2009 and 2012 using timber frames across four blocks of 85 units. Despite its recent completion, it faced major structural and safety defects that required full redevelopment.

RDE Construction was appointed as the specialist steel manufacturer for the scheme. We designed, manufactured, and supplied a Light Gauge Steel Frame System (LGSF) valued at £1.2m. Our Slone Frame System was chosen for its precision, durability, and lightweight structure. Unlike timber, our steel frame solutions do not warp or shift, ensuring long-term integrity.

In addition, the frames are durable, which reduces the risk of warping or movement over time, ensuring long-term structural integrity. Working with the main contractor and design team, we delivered a precision-engineered steel solution that addressed the failures of the original build while supporting safer, faster, and more efficient construction.

Development

• Collaborated closely with the contractor and project team to design a bespoke LGSF steel frame system valued at £1.2m.
• Safely demolished existing structures down to the basement and ground floor transfer slab before installing the new frames.
• Delivered precision-engineered Slone Frame System components designed for accuracy and seamless integration.
• Supplied lightweight frames that could be moved and assembled quickly on-site, reducing time and improving efficiency.
• Provided on-site technical support, ensuring proper alignment and correct assembly throughout construction.

Outcome

The redevelopment, now known as Rye Parkside, transformed Solomon’s Passage into a safe, modern, and visually appealing housing complex. The project delivered 91 new homes across four blocks, each built with light gauge steel solutions for strength and longevity.

Our Slone Frame System delivered strength, precision, and durability. Each block achieved full compliance with UK building regulations and long-term performance standards.
